This photo also has its origins in Sin City. Here is Anna, played by Rachel Young. Image cleaned and modified in Photoshop - the saturation of the skin was reduced, while the saturation and brightness of the eyes was increased heavily.

I'm finding that as I learn more Photoshop tricks, I end up with more layers in the final image.

From the bottom:

• The original, unedited image (I like to keep it around for comparison)
• The cleaned image
• The cleaned image blurred heavily, set to screen and a low opacity,
• An unused lightening curve
• A curve to make the background black instead of just very dark
• Hue/saturation to washout the skin
• Hue saturation to enhance the eyes
• A brightness curve that ups the gamma to a ridiculous level so I has see and manipulate the really dark areas.
